A tree removal permit is required for removal of any tree greater than 6 inches Diameter at Breast Height (DBH)
Specimen Tree:
- Pine tree 30-inch DBH or larger
- Other Conifer trees18-inch DBH or larger; Juniper, Cedar, BaldCypress, Dawn Redwood, Eastern Hemlock, Virginia Pine, China Fir, and other ecologically similar species.
- 30 inch DBH for Sweetgum and Estern Cottonwood
- 26 inch DBH tulip poplar
- 24 inch DBH for all Oaks, Sycamore, Pecan, all Elm (other than American Elm), Red Maple,and all other ecologically similar species.
- 18 inch DBH or larger for Beech, Hickory, Tupelo/Blackgum, American Holly, Southern Magnolia, American Elm, Red Maple, and other ecologically similar species.
- 12 inch DBH or larger for native Cherry, Persimmon, and other ecologically similar species.
- 8 inch DBH or larger for Dogwood, and Redbud.
- 6 inch DBH or larger for American Hornbeam, Big Leaf Magnolia, Sourwood, Hop Hornbeam, and other ecologically similar species.
